Meet our Steering Committee
The TNSYC Steering Committee is made up of faithful members from congregations across Tennessee who are passionate about youth ministry. Most serve their local churches as teachers, counselors, or youth leaders and have long histories with the Tennessee State Youth Conference—as former participants, instructors, or volunteers. Together, they prayerfully plan and organize the annual conference, ensuring that every detail supports the mission of inspiring and equipping youth for Christ.
The Executive Board provides overall vision and guidance for the Tennessee State Youth Conference. As part of the Steering Committee, the Board holds decision-making authority to ensure the conference stays aligned with its mission and goals. The Board is composed of elected officers — the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary — each serving defined terms of service with dedication and accountability. Together, they help shape the direction and future of the conference.

Frances Baugh
Frances is a faithful member of the Schrader Lane Church of Christ where she has been involved in various ministries.

Jabbar is a faithful member of the Bird Street Church of Christ where he is involved in various ministries.

Richard is a faithful member of the Boulevard Church of Christ where he is involved in various ministries.
Samuel Cosley
Samuel is a faithful member and elder of the Avondale Church of Christ where he is involved in various ministries.
Shobek Dethrow
Shobek is a faithful member of the East Jackson Church of Christ where he serves as one of the ministers.
Edward Eldridge
Edward has served as the minister of the Wolfchase Church of Christ since 2010.
Demetria Farewell
Demetria is a faithful member of the Norris Road Church of Christ where she has been the assistant youth director since 2016.
Tina Fox
Tina is a faithful member of the Schrader Lane Church of Christ in Nashville where she teaches 5th-8th grades Wednesday Night Bible Class.
Thomas Frierson
Thomas is a faithful member of the Church of Christ and resides in Columbia, TN.
Spencer Gay, Jr.
Spencer is a faithful member of the East 3rd Street Church of Christ. He works with the youth and tech ministries.
Senior Advisors & Task Force
The Senior Advisors are former Steering Committee members who have faithfully served the Tennessee State Youth Conference for more than a decade. Though no longer active committee members, they continue to play a vital role by offering guidance, wisdom, and spiritual insight to the Executive Board and Steering Committee. Their legacy of leadership helps preserve the vision and excellence of the conference for future generations.
The Task Force is composed of dedicated members from churches across the state who share a heart for mentoring and discipling youth. Working through subcommittees, they help bring the Steering Committee’s plans to life through careful execution and collaboration. They also form a qualified group first considered when Steering Committee vacancies arise, ensuring continuity of service and leadership within the conference.
